Four Key Things to Teach Your Downline
December 7, 2008
Many people start a network marketing business part-time, while still working a regular job. Often, there is a lot of enthusiasm and hope but not always a lot of time available to work a new business.
Today, let’s talk about four key activities that help spell success for your network marketing business. When time for your business is at a premium, focus on these activities. Don’t get sidetracked doing things that don’t contribute to the actual growth of your group. Teach your downline team to do the same.
Train New Associates
Get in touch with new associates you sponsor as soon as possible after they sign up. Call them on the phone, don’t rely on email only. This step is important, because they need encouragement and direction to get started right. Don’t just sponsor people and then move to the next prospect right away – spend some time helping and training your new associates.
Contact Your Prospects
Maintain contact and follow up with your prospects on a regular basis. Help them understand your business and how they can benefit from it. Use email to communicate some of the basics, but be sure to do as much “live” by voice as possible. There is a personal touch to talking with someone that can never be duplicated by exchanging emails.
Encourage Leadership in Your Group
Support and encourage leadership in your group. After you’ve helped new associates get started, teach them how to assume a leadership role for their group. Help them learn to train their downline, just as you trained them. If you don’t do this, your network marketing group will not grow and expand as quickly as it could.
Develop Your Own Skills
Spend time on personal development. This is one thing you can easily do by utilizing otherwise wasted time. For example, if you have a daily commute to work listen to motivational CD’s by great speakers such as Jim Rohn. If your upline support group has audio training, or perhaps recordings of past training sessions, download them to your Ipod. The secret is to do this often and fill your mind with encouragement and all the knowledge about network marketing you can.
