What is Network Marketing?

August 18, 2010 by stone   · Leave a Comment

It is a shame that people who claim to be doing network marketing forget the ‘networking’ aspect and therefore should just call it ‘marketing’.  The usual strategy employed by ‘network marketers’ begins with leads generation of some sort, whether by purchase or leads capture devices, and then contacting the leads via telephone and/or email.

If the prospect becomes a customer, then they would be directed to a site where there is ‘canned’ documentation, FAQs, resources, etc. The more sophisticated program sites might have teleconferences, webinars or forums where to some degree there would be ‘networking’ within the company for management and membership.

The best definition of ‘networking’ however is ‘to be known without having an agenda’.  This would then be in reverse order to the usual techniques used in network marketing.  The leads would be generated from sites where people are having conversations interactively and establishing relationships prior to trying to sell anybody anything.  If someone is interested in getting more information or buying something, they would request it and be contacted privately.

With the advent of social networks becoming popular in the recent past, it seems as though the latter model is coming to fruition.  It was about time, too, as thanks to miscreant trolls and spammers on the Internet, everyone is being inundated with unwanted, unsolicited advertising. This creates chaos and disrupts a productive environment in which business is conducted in an orderly way.
It seems even when a company swears that they will not share your information with anyone, somehow you begin to get spammed as soon as you sign up for a program. Not clear if the systems are hacked or how email addresses and phone numbers begin to be abused by 3rd parties.  Surely this is not the ‘network’ anybody legitimate envisioned.

The result of the pitfalls surrounding email is that people are becoming immune to anything sent via email.  The easiest way to navigate a flooded inbox is just to delete everything without even looking at it.  Even the companies that we do sign up for can be abusive in that they will send something every single day to hound you to ‘upgrade now’.  After a while, again, the only way to deal with it is to ignore it or delete it.  This can’t be conducive to sales in the network marketing environment.

Introduction to Network Marketing

Network marketing is a term for a marketing structure which is used by some companies in conjunction with their overall marketing strategy. It is designed to create a sales and marketing force through rewarding company promoters for the sales they help generate and the sales of other promoters that they introduce to the company. This creates a hierarchy with multiple levels of compensation for distributors, which in turn strengthens the company’s image and marketing presence.

Independent sales people are usually called distributors, and they may be associates, dealers, independent business owners, sales consultants, independent agents or franchise owners. Whatever their occupation is, they should represent the main company that provides the services or products which they sell. They are then given a commission award based on the amount of product they sell both individually and as an organization.

The distributors of network marketing develop their organizations through creating a customer base of individuals who buy directly from the company, or finding distributors who already have a customer base which they can use. In addition, a distributor can also earn profit through retail products which they bought from the company via wholesale pricing.

Network marketing is an excellent opportunity for individuals to have their own business or their first sales role. All network marketers who are serious about making their business a success should regularly read up on the latest marketing and sales techniques, as well as various strategies for business and networking development. Some countries have regularly changing laws for marketing practices and procedures, so companies should be aware of these rules to make sure they are staying within legal boundaries.

Some network marketing companies have been subjected to controversy and many are often the target of lawsuits. Price fixing products, illegal pyramid schemes, high initial staring costs and product exploitation are some of the methods which can be used if this kind of marketing is done unscrupulously. However, the majority of companies do not operate in that way, and many businesses can use this marketing method for legitimate business practices.

What Functions Make the Best Network Marketing Software

The best network marketing software would have several functions that work in tandem. The primary functions would be lead capture portals, an autoresponder to send automated messages, and a contact management system including POP3 email to receive mail.

Lead capture portals are very important as everything begins and ends with your prospects. You can use a number of techniques to capture leads because ideally you do not want to pay for them. Generally leads can cost from a penny to more than a dollar. In either case 1 actual prospect out of 100 leads is the norm. Not a good return on investment.

Certainly if you have an unlimited operating budget you wouldn’t mind paying hundreds of dollars to get just a few viable leads. The majority of people however, do not have this kind of money; therefore you need a way to capture leads for free and the best network marketing software would have this ability.

A typical lead capture strategy is to have a web form for people to opt-in to a free newsletter. When they give you their email address, you have their permission to send your newsletter, which can include your advertisements. This is where the autoresponder would come into play and should be set up to automatically begin sending emails when the prospect opts in.

In the event that they reply with questions, you want a function to manage the emails you will receive and then begin a correspondence with your prospect. This function is not typically part of an autoresponder, which only sends mail. Only the best network marketing software would include POP3.

A contact management system should be built in to work in tandem with your lead capture and mail systems for the most efficient operation. This system would list your leads and give you the ability to record information about them.

For example, your contact management system would automatically include the name, email address and phone number; the date you began sending them the newsletter, the date(s) they wrote to you, and when you called them. As well, it would be ideal to have a place to write your comments about the lead – what business are they in, what are their challenges, what you need to do to help them, and future appointments.

Network Marketing Opportunities In The 21st Century

June 29, 2010 by stone   · Leave a Comment

There is probably not one person who has not been exposed to a variety of network marketing opportunities both in person and online. In the past it was a matter of finding the right opportunity and the right people to join your network. You thought it would be easy and probably tried more than one scheme in an effort to find something that would replace your full time job—at least add some additional income to help you have a few extra things for your family. The problem was there were more opportunities than there were people interested in pursuing the “great American dream” of having their own home based business.

While there are still plenty of network marketing opportunities available, they are not the same as they once were. No longer do people have to hope they can find friends and business associates that may be interested in listening to what they have to say—and hoping those who don’t want to join their network will at least be willing to add to their sales volume. Some people became very successful while others were lucky if they made enough to cover their own purchases.

Many of the network marketing opportunities that are currently available online promise to place people into your network, telling you there is no need for you to do any of the work. While this sounds like a wonderful opportunity, anyone who knows anything about business knows unless they do their own marketing they will not achieve the level of success they desire.

It is never a good idea to allow someone else to market your business or to depend on that person for your success. However, the Internet does allow those interested in network marketing to promote their business opportunity to many more people than they were able to do when everything was done through personal contact.

Multi Level Marketing Software: Making a More Profitable Business

June 28, 2010 by stone   · Leave a Comment

The MLM business can be one of the most profitable businesses to get into, but it doesn’t always happen easily for the newcomer.  Sometimes, the business can be difficult, especially if you do not have the right tools at hand.  To make things easier for you and your business, consider how to make the best use of the multi level marketing software available to marketers everywhere.

When you are first starting out, you will want to make certain to invest in an autoresponder.  This multi level marketing software will save you time and prevent you from not following up with any of your leads.  Basically, you will input information into the software of what you want sent to your leads and when.  The program will then automatically send out emails to your leads immediately upon receiving them.  This ensures all your leads are followed up on and you will not be sitting at your desk for hours, responding to the leads from your website.

You will also find there is software available that can help you to track the results of your marketing efforts.  This will save you both time and money, as you will no longer be wasting them on marketing strategies that are not driving traffic to your website.  Unfortunately, if you are a marketer without tracking software, you could find yourself with many hours of wasted efforts.

A good multi level marketing software system can assist you in staying organized, can help you to follow up with leads, and can help you to set goals for your business.  Keeping track of your business activities, it can help you to not only know where your business is at, but where it should be going.   Of course, you and your business may be able to function quite well without any additional software, but you will find that it may be more time consuming and less profitable than it could be.

How to Be More Successful With Your Network Marketing Recruiting

May 13, 2010 by stone   · Leave a Comment

As a network marketer, your ultimate goal is to work less hours and still make more money.  To do this, you must be able to build your downline.  The larger and more productive your downline is and the more income you will earn.  Unfortunately, this is the area where many marketers have trouble.  The key is to learn how to be more successful with your network marketing recruiting.

The first step in network marketing recruiting is following up with every lead.  Many marketers fail to do this.  Some of them may feel as though they are wasting their time or setting themselves up to hear the word “no”.  To get over your fear of contacting leads,  purchase an autoresponder software program.  Input the follow-up information into the software one time and it will do the rest for you.  This will enable you to concentrate on those individuals who have shown more interest.

When you do contact your prospects, you must remain positive, but you also can not go overboard.  If anyone thinks that you are being nice to them, just so that you can lure them into the business, they aren’t going to like it.  Prospects want to deal with genuine people, not those who come across as fake.  Before you meet with any of your prospects, practice what you are going to say and be prepared to answer questions.

Before you start recruiting new members into your downline, you will also want to make certain you have a good support system set up for them.  Many of them will consider you their leader and, for those who are inexperienced in the business, they will count on you to be there for them.  You can either set up weekly or monthly meetings or allow them to contact you at anytime through email or the telephone.  The most successful marketers often make use of an online forum where their members can meet and discuss the business.

Network marketing recruiting should not be the one task you hate to do.  Instead, consider it to be a challenge.  Building relationships is what this business is all about and the more you put yourself out there, the more successful you will be with it.

Success With A Multi Level Marketing Business Is Possible, Even in This Economy

May 10, 2010 by stone   · Leave a Comment

With the current economy, many people are finding themselves struggling with their finances for the first time in their life. Many people have been laid off or had their hours cut back drastically, leaving them with the inability to keep up with their bills or even provide for their families. For this reason, many are considering getting involved with an online business opportunity. But, they still wonder if achieving success with a multi level marketing possible in this economy is actually possible.

First, what you must understand about the economy is that many businesses have gone under and many more are struggling. However, if you take a look at the majority of these businesses, they often are selling products or services that people can do without. In other words, they may fulfill a need, but people can live quite well without them.

What you need to do is join a multi level marketing business that has products that will match the demands of the consumer. In other words, they have to fulfill a need. The products must be something that consumers do not want to go without. They have to be products of quality and they must be ones that have the ability to do well in the market for a long time. If you do not pay attention to what the consumer is asking for, you will not achieve your income goals.

You must also be diligent in your marketing. Many techniques require a commitment of everyday, such as social networking strategies and article marketing. If you ca not commit yourself to the task at hand, you are better to find strategies that require less time. It is also important to use a variety of techniques in your marketing. Once you find a technique that is working well, you can then concentrate more of your efforts on it and drive the traffic to your site.

Last, you must also make a commitment to the business. Many people could have found success with their multi level marketing business if they had just given it the time it needed. The fact is, no matter what products you are selling and what techniques you use to sell them, there are going to be difficult times. It happens in every business. What you need to do is stick with it, even during the tough times, and eventually, you’ll find your efforts and patience pays off.
