Three Tips for Overcoming Procrastination

December 19, 2008

list of things to put off until tomorrowProcrastination is one of those sneaky little things that can dramatically slow the growth of your home based business. It causes you to put off or neglect doing the essentials that drive your business to success. A network marketing business is incredibly simple and profitable, but neglecting or putting off doing the right things will cause your business to grow much more slowly than it could.

All of us have days when we just don’t feel like doing what we need to do for our home business. We wake up with the best of intentions, but despite that it still doesn’t happen. Not only do we have “those days”, we most likely can point to scenarios like this every single day!

Here are three things that I’ve found help me focus and do the right things to build my business each and every day. Apply these concepts to your network marketing, MLM, or direct selling business and watch the good things that happen!

1. Know what your dreams and goals are for your business, write them down, and develop an action plan for achieving them. Seek training and direction from those in your upline who are succeeding. The best companies and opportunities have a training program in place for new associates. Knowing where you are going and how you are going to get there is critical to your success. Having no direction is discouraging and encourages procrastination.

2. Get your business organized. Set aside a specific place in your home that you will use when you are working your business. If you don’t have a room you can dedicate, a corner with a small desk is sufficient. Don’t allow your work area to become cluttered. Develop a system to keep things filed and organized as needed. Clutter and disorganization are other leading causes of procrastination – when you see all the mess, it is discouraging and makes it much easier to put essential tasks off.

3. Don’t let other people or outside forces distract you. This is why it is so important to have well thought out goals and objectives for your business. If you focus and keep your mind on your goals and objectives, you can keep moving forward and blow past any distractions that pop up.

These are just a few tips to help overcome procrastination that can stall or even prevent success with your home based business. My has grown much faster since I learned to apply these principles – and you can do the same!
