Overcoming Home Business Dream Crushers
August 31, 2008
A new associate in my group was feeling discouraged recently. Shortly after starting her network marketing business, she sent an email to everyone on her contact list. In her email, she invited them to visit her new opportunity web site and check it out.
One lady (an aunt) sent back a well meaning, but very negative reply.
“I knew a guy who started one of these MLM businesses. He failed after one month and ended up with a bunch of products he couldn’t sell. Beware of what you are getting into”.
To make things worse, the aunt copied her reply to several other members of the family.
Watch Out For Negative Naysayers
When you begin building your network marketing home business, you will be excited to tell people about it. Unfortunately, you are likely to have a few people hit you hard with negatives. They will tell you how your business will fail, perhaps because “Uncle John” tried network marketing and failed. Or, they might have the attitude that all MLM / network marketing businesses are pyramid scams.
Don’t let negative comments like these tear you down. There are people in this world who have a very negative view of anything that is different from what they do. Some have given up long ago on their own dreams. Deep down, they resent your enthusiasm and assume you will fail in achieving your own dreams. Sadly, some of them delight in tearing you down.
Keys to Overcoming Dream Crushers
This sort of negativity is especially painful when it comes from a friend or family member. If this happens to you, try to remember the following.
- Everyone has a choice of what they make of their life – positive or negative, good or bad
- Some choose to make the most if it and go for success – this is you
- Some well-meaning but misinformed people will be negative about your business
Try to associate with positive thinking people who have similar goals as you do. The successful business builders in your upline are a good place to start. Stay focused on the positive. Be prepared for the negatives and reject them. Stay focused on your business and what it takes to succeed. Don’t let the naysayers crush your dreams!
